"When I was a kid, piano teachers were boring! Not this one--she uses so many techniques to keep the kids engaged and have fun! The recitals are themed and the kids love them. She uses music the kids actually want to play. Highly recommend." -Carol K.

"Rebecca is a wonderful, experienced, and passionate teacher!! My 7-year old son has been taking lessons with her for the past two years and it’s been amazing! She has great patience and as a teacher myself I recognize how important of a quality this is, especially working with younger students (although there are older students working with her as well). She is able to feel the strengths and needs of students and adjust as their needs change. I also like that she puts together two recitals a year for the delight of parents and grandparents and as an opportunity for students to meet other students and experience the thrill of performing in front of an (always cheerful) crowd. Kids do very well in these friendly, non-competitive performances as they include a theme (there is usually a Halloween recital and then a themed spring recital). I think this takes some of the pressure away from performing in public while channeling some energy into “oh, it’s fun time, we are dressing up!” mood.
Rebecca also has games with little prizes every lesson and there are occasional group lessons so that students get to meet each other and enjoy a music lesson together. There are also some challenges that require a few weeks of going through several tasks to accomplish a goal and there is a drawing for a winner of a nice prize at the end if the child completed all the challenges. Her studio is very friendly, in a nice, quiet part of Roanoke, and I also appreciate that she offers a flexible schedule for summer lessons taking into consideration everyone’s busy summer travel plans.
It has been very rewarding watching my son grow his musical skills, knowledge, and passion while working with Rebecca. I would highly recommend Rebecca for music lessons here in the Roanoke Valley!" -Dana R.
